Mrs. B Challenge 40 - 13 Axe Throwing

Challenge 28

13. Axe throwing

This was the most amount of fun ever!  Another challenge for the 3 of us best friends, this was on all of our lists.

We found that Go Ape in Southampton offered this and at a really reasonable price!  We signed up on line and waited our date.

Short safety and throwing briefing and we were off!  There was 6 of us in the session and 4 throwing spaces, so us 3 versus the other 3 and taking it in turns.

It is harder than it looks! I made the axe ‘slap’ the board quote a few times, rather than actually hit it!

But I succeeded a few times!  We had such a great day, huge smiles all round!

I’d totally recommend this to anyone, such fun!

Mrs. B Challenge 40 - 11 Travel to Scotland

Challenge number 26

11 Travel to Scotland!

This year we had a super special birthday to celebrate, my mum turned 60!  And to celebrate, mum invited us all for dinner in a beautiful hunting lodge she hired in Glen Isla in Scotland.  We stayed at the lovely Brewlands Lodge.

We celebrated mums birthday with a lovely dinner cooked by a hired chef who came to the house.

One of mums friends organised a bag piped to pipe us in to dinner!

We had beautiful days out in St Andrews, Pitlochry, Braemar, and around the Glens.

The scenery was absolutely stunning!

We of course had a dip in a loch!

It was such a lovely week and I’m so grateful we got to spend it together.

Mrs. B Challenge 40 - 10 Clay Pigeon Shooting

Challenge 25.

10 - Clay Pigeon Shooting

Since I was a small child I’ve always gone to clay shoots, my fairy godfather used to run one locally.  My family all shoot, my dad not now due to his arthritis, but my mum has her shot gun licence, my grandad used to shoot, lots of my mum and dads friends shoot, so it’s quite normal for me.  I remember as a smaller child, collecting the clays which hadn’t been hit and proudly wanting to bring them all home - much to my dads dismay!

This year we took a trip to Scotland (blog post to come soon!) and my Mum arranged for us all to have a go at clay pigeon shooting.

It was a rainy, cold day - but we had great fun!  Sadly I didn’t hit any clays, but I gave it my best shot!

Mrs. B Challenge 40 - 33 Visit Clanfield Observatory

Challenge number 23!

33. Visit Clanfield Observatory

So off we went on a freezing cold night to the Clanfield Observatory for our educational night of star gazing.  Sadly it was blumming cloudy so no star or moon viewing for us!

We did get to sit indoors in the warm and listen to a very enlightening talk about the life, birth and death of stars!

We did get to visit the telescopes, even if we couldn’t look through them

This is the sun dial on the site.

One of the domes housing the telescopes.

The Victorian telescope they use to look at the moon!

We do have return tickets, so fingers crossed we’ll see the moon and stars together soon!

Mrs. B Challenge 40 - 21 - Write something

Challenge number 33

21 Write something, an article/book etc

My lovely friend and moon sister,
found a writing competition for us, it was a challenge to write a poem each day for 30 days and at the end you submit for it to be published!

The challenge is over and now we wait for the published article, which will then be available on Amazon!  How exciting!

I’ll keep you posted!

Mrs. B Challenge 40 - 35 Wim Hof Workshop

Challenge 24!

35 - Wim Hof Workshop

So I did this back in the summer, but haven’t got round to writing about it!  I have seen a few Wim Hof fundamentals workshops on Instagram and a dear friend had week away on a retreat and loved it, so I knew as soon as I saw this advertised I wanted to join!

The day was run by
Mango Wellbeing and it was such a great day.  My best friend signed up too and it was amazing.  We learned the science, we had a breathwork session, an amazing lunch and then split into two groups.  Sally led us in a Stretch and calm session and then we were onto the ice bath, followed by a Finnish sauna!  I loved every minute and would recommend this to everyone.  I have spotted Mango wellbeing are running another workshop this year, so I urge you to sign up and have the best day!

Mrs. B Challenge 40 - 36 Cake Decorating

So here is Challenge 22

36 - learning how to decorate a cake

In lockdown my mum bought me a beautiful bouquet of cupcakes for my birthday from The Bouquet Bakery and I loved them, they are so clever and look so amazing - and taste great too!

Since lockdown this wonderful small business has just gone from strength to strength and now they offer classes so you can learn how to pipe your own bouquet.  The classes are seasonal and each bouquet is different.

My friend Kat and I booked on to one of the Christmas sessions and we had the best evening.  We learnt how to pipe roses, poinsettia’s, pine cones, drop flowers and leaves!  I never thought I would be able to do it, but I’m very proud of my creation.  We also learnt how to present them, wrap them and we had the opportunity to buy the complete kit to give it a go at home too.

Roz was welcoming, friendly and the class was paced just right.  We were given the cupcakes ready baked to decorate, all the equipment was provided and away we went!

I’d totally recommend this class and can’t wait to go on the next one!  I also recommend purchasing the cupcakes from The Bouquet Bakery for all your cake needs.
